Preview: Lightning (54-23) at Capitals (49-26)
    Date: May 21, 2018 8:00 PM EDT

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Washington Capitals know they have a lot of work to do.

The Tampa Bay Lightning know their work is far from done.

Both teams expect to be at their best on Monday for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals at Capital One Arena with Tampa Bay holding a 3-2 series advantage and the chance to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Capitals, a franchise haunted by the failures of postseasons past, are staring down another one heading in to their first elimination of this playoffs.

After finally pushing past the Pittsburgh Penguins and advancing past the second round for the first time in 20 years -- and the first time in the Alex Ovechkin era -- Washington kept rolling right on in to the conference finals, winning the first two games on the road.

But since grabbing that 2-0 series lead, the Capitals have dropped the past three games and are once again facing questions about seeing a big series lead dissipate into disappointment.

In the conference era, which dates back to 1974-75, only two teams in 41 occasions have won the first two games of a conference final or league semifinal and failed to win the series: the Montreal Canadiens in 1984 and Boston Bruins in 1991.

"It's OK," Washington captain Alex Ovechkin said. "We're going to play better in Game 6 and we have (to) bounce back and come here and play a Game 7 and that's it."

The Capitals are leaning on some of the adversity they have faced this season, including being down 0-2 themselves in the opening round after dropping consecutive home games to open the series against Columbus.

"We kind of had our backs against the wall a couple times this year in this playoffs. We can draw from those experiences," defenseman John Carlson said. "Just got to go out there and play hockey. That's what we do. Just all about upstairs and what you can control. I think if you stay in the moment like we have, we got a pretty good chance of winning.

"I think these guys are a very capable group that is very capable of winning the next game. That's all we're worried about."

History is not on Washington's side, however.

When a series is tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven format, the team which won Game 5 has an all-time series record of 215-55, a 79.6 winning percentage.

But the Lightning are well aware that a 3-2 series lead means the next victory is going to be the hardest to earn.

Twice in the previous three years Tampa Bay has been in this same position in the conference finals. In 2015, they held a 3-2 lead against the New York Rangers heading back home but lost Game 6 before winning in seven games. In 2016, the Lightning were up 3-2 on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the conference finals and lost Game 6 at home and eventually the series in seven games.

Now, they are back in the same situation in 2018, but instead are heading on the road with the chance to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third time in franchise history.

"We have a lot of unfinished business," Lightning forward Ryan Callahan said. "This isn't even close to being over. This last game's definitely the hardest, against a very, very good Washington team and to go in their building and try to close them out it's going to be tough."

Tampa Bay has been a strong road team in these playoffs, posting a 5-1 record away from home with four consecutive road victories. The Lightning have also never lost a playoff game in Washington in three all-time postseason meetings, which also includes 2003 and 2011, with a 7-0 record.

Yet, all that matters is what Tampa Bay can put forth on Monday.

"We're going to have to match their urgency," Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said. "The closeout games, potential closeout games, they just seem to bring out the best in everybody. For us, we've had some success when we've gotten the lead. When you do that, you put a little pressure on the other team. Something we'll try and focus on (Monday) night."

Vasilevskiy turns East final around for TB
    May 20, 2018

Jon Cooper didn't blame Andrei Vasilevskiy for the Tampa Bay Lightning digging a deep hole early in the Eastern Conference final.

Two games and two losses brought plenty of criticism of the young Russian goaltender. Cooper wasn't thrilled about that.

''The questions were coming from the other side of the table, and I felt it was the questioning of Vasilevskiy,'' the Tampa Bay coach said. ''We don't. He's been the guy for us.''

Vasilevskiy is the guy who turned the series around for the Lightning, who now lead the Capitals 3-2 and can eliminate Washington on the road in Game 6 on Monday night and move on to the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights. After a 6.00 goals-against average and .839 save percentage in Games 1 and 2, he has a 2.00 GAA and .943 save percentage since as the series' biggest difference-maker.

''Just tried to stay positive and play my game,'' Vasilevskiy said last week. ''It's very important, especially in the playoffs. Good or bad game, doesn't matter. Turn the page, start over again and again. That's how you get success.''

Vasilevskiy has found plenty of success this season, his first as a full-time NHL starter. The 23-year-old is a Vezina Trophy finalist after leading the league with 44 wins and eight shutouts.

But Vasilevskiy hasn't made it easy on himself. He rarely does.

Cooper saw it during the 2016-17 season when Vasilevskiy struggled during a stretch of 10 consecutive starts when Ben Bishop was hurt and then again late this season when a swoon by him and the entire team almost cost Tampa Bay the East's top seed. Vasilevskiy bounced back strong each time.

''His ability to be able to turn the page now and understand, `You know what there might be a tough night for you, but I'm going to go out the next night anyway and I've got to be there for my team,' - I think that's where his growth process has really come in,'' Cooper said.

The same happened between Games 2 and 3 in this series. The shy Vasilevskiy who has been reluctant to do interviews told a pool reporter he didn't make any adjustments from his worst games against the Capitals to his best.

Somehow, he has looked like an entirely different goalie. Chants of ''Vasy! Vasy!'' filled Amalie Arena in Game 5 on Saturday night when he stopped 28 of 30 shots, and the highest praise was reserved for inside the Lightning's locker room.

''He's a world class goaltender, that's what he does,'' defenseman Braydon Coburn said. ''He battles hard every day in practice all season long, and he's raised his game in the playoffs here.''

No doubt his teammates have improved their play in front of Vasilevskiy, with defenseman Anton Stralman saying: ''We always feel like we owe him.'' But against a star-studded Capitals team led by countrymen Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov, Vasilevskiy had to raise his game to give Tampa Bay any chance.

Lightning captain Steven Stamkos said confidence in Vasilevskiy never wavered, and he has showed them on the ice evidence of what they've seen all season.

''He just expects a lot,'' Stamkos said. ''You see his work ethic every day in practice. You guys don't get to see what goes on in the room, but his mental preparation, his physical preparation, he wants to be the best all the time. He doesn't want to give up a goal at all, including in practice. That's the mentality he has and that's why he's so good.''

If the Capitals can crack Vasilevskiy like they did the first two times, there will be a Game 7 on Wednesday night at Tampa Bay. But they'd better figure that out and get an even better game from Braden Holtby because the Lightning are 11-0 in the playoffs when scoring three-plus goals.

That record is thanks to Vasilevskiy, who doesn't like cameras but loves playoff hockey.

''It's definitely a fun time,'' he said. ''Lot of emotions. Different hockey. It's pretty fun to play. Just excitement level is pretty high. A different season.''

Caps shut out Lightning to force Game 7
    May 21, 2018

WASHINGTON (AP) Facing elimination at home, the Washington Capitals looked determined to hit everything that moved in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference final.

The goal was to finish checks on Tampa Bay Lightning players as much as possible, though at one point Devante Smith-Pelly decked Dan Girardi and took teammate Jay Beagle down with him.

''I apologized to him,'' Smith-Pelly said. ''I said sorry. He didn't seem to care.''

    Sorry, not sorry.

The Capitals made no apologies for taking the body and grinding out a physical 3-0 victory Monday night that tied the playoff series and set up a deciding Game 7. T.J. Oshie had a goal on the power play and into an empty net, Smith-Pelly scored a back-breaker and Braden Holtby stopped all 24 shots, but it was the bruising style that kept the Capitals alive and could still pay more dividends.

''You've got to wear them down,'' Smith-Pelly said. ''Every game, if guys are going to be playing 25, 30 minutes, it's tough when you're getting hit every single shift. We've been on the body all game and all series. If it shows up in Game 7 where guys are starting to get tired, then it was all worth it.''

Game 7 is Wednesday night at Tampa Bay. The winner faces the Vegas Golden Knights, who are in the Stanley Cup Final in their first season.

Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson and Brooks Orpik led the charge in the grueling Game 6, throwing their bodies around all night like human wrecking balls. Orpik separated Cedric Paquette from the puck twice on one shift, Ovechkin leveled rookie Yanni Gourde and Wilson was his usual self, dishing out a handful of crushing body checks.

The Capitals outhit the Lightning 39-19 and outshot them 34-24, bruising and battering them all over the ice.

''It's desperation, really,'' Orpik said. ''You try to empty the tank as much as you can. That's probably one area where we have an edge is the size and physical play.''

That edge was noticeable in Game 6 when Washington fired up an already-raucous crowd well before Oshie's power-play goal 15:12 into the second period. While Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was again on top of his game in stopping 31 of 33 shots, Orpik said the Capitals wanted to give back to fans for their energy and did so by laying out Lightning players.

From Wilson's big hit on Paquette on his first shift through the time Smith-Pelly scored with 9:58 left, the physical play took a toll on the Lightning, who didn't have the energy left to muster a late comeback. Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos said simply the Capitals ''executed their game plan'' and the Lightning didn't respond.

''They played with that desperate hockey and we should have matched it and we didn't,'' winger Ryan Callahan said. ''They played like their lives were on the line, and we played like we had another chance and that's unfortunate, but we've got to change the script now in Game 7.''

Tampa Bay had no answer for the physicality with a hit disparity coach Jon Cooper chalked up as, ''Somebody was engaged and somebody wasn't.'' The Lightning also couldn't solve Holtby, who was at his best on a handful of deflection attempts to record his first shutout of these playoffs.

''I was just trying to stay in the moment, focus on one puck at a time,'' Holtby said. ''I try and stay the same level through the game.''

The Lightning missed a chance to close out an opponent for the first time in these playoffs. They eliminated New Jersey and Boston in five games apiece but are now on the brink themselves.

The Capitals improved to 10-2 in the Ovechkin/Nicklas Backstrom era when facing elimination any time before Game 7. They're 3-7 in Game 7 over that time but will obviously take their chances after grinding their way back to 3-3 in the series.

''I think it's great that we're close,'' Oshie said. ''I think both teams for the most part figured out what works against the other team. It's just a matter of who's going to play longer, harder and do more of it.''

NOTES: Washington improved to 4-5 at home in the playoffs. The Lightning dropped to 5-2 on the road. ... An assist on Oshie's first goal extended Capitals C Evgeny Kuznetsov's point streak to nine games, tied with Backstrom in 2009 for the longest in franchise playoff history. ... F Andre Burakovsky returned to the Capitals lineup after being a healthy scratch for Game 5, replacing Alex Chiasson.

    Armadillo: Wednesday's six-pack

Odds on some interesting NFL games this season:

    Week 2: Vikings @ Green Bay (-2.5)

    Week 3: Cowboys @ Seattle (-1.5)

    Week 4: Eagles (-2.5) @ Tennessee

    Week 5: Redskins @ New Orleans (-7.5)

    Week 6: Chiefs @ New England (-7)

    Week 7: Broncos (-1.5) @ Arizona

    **********

    Armadillo: Wednesday's List of 13: Mid-week musings…….

    13) Rockets 95, Warriors 92— Houston held Golden State to 12 4th-quarter points as they evened Wester finals 2-2.

Rockets’ PJ Tucker didn’t score a basket (0-4) but he grabbed 16 rebounds and was +7 in 44:08, which means Houston was outscored by 10 points in the 3:52 he sat out.

    12) A gutty gambler dropped $50,000 on the Rockets to win the NBA title at 10-1 at the SouthPoint Casino Tuesday. Later on Tuesday, someone put $10,000 on the Rockets to win Game 4, at a +$400 money line.

    11) Michigan Wolverines opened as a 7-point underdog at Notre Dame this coming football season; they’re now a 1-point favorite.

    10) Tampa Bay Rays brought SS prospect Willie Adames up Tuesday; he got to the ballpark a half hour before the game, but still started and homered off of Chris Sale.

    9) On May 22, 1990, the Reds lost 3-1 in 16 innings to the Cubs; Cincy walked Andre Dawson intentionally five times that day.

Who was batting behind Dawson? Former big league manager Lloyd McClendon was 0-6, then Dave Clark went 1-2

Cincinnati wound up winning the World Series that year.

    8) Seattle Mariners put CF Dee Gordon (toe) on the DL. Tigers’ P Matthew Boyd left with an oblique injury after allowing one hit in four IP at Minnesota.

    7) Chargers’ TE Hunter Henry tore his ACL, is done for 2018.

    6) Reds 7, Pirates 2— Matt Harvey wins his home debut for the Reds, allowing one run in six IP. Devin Mesoraco is playing well for the Mets, so a good trade for both teams.

    5) Jets traded QB Christian Hackenberg to Oakland for a 7th-round pick. Hackenberg suited up for five games with the Jets, but never took a snap.

    4) Orioles’ SS Manny Machado is married to the sister of Indians’ 1B Yonder Alonso.

    3) Someone didn’t vote for Jayson Tatum on the NBA’s all-rookie team; whoever that is should lose their right to vote.

    2) Mets signed OF Jose Bautista not long after the Braves cut him; he batted 5th, and scored the Mets’ only run in a 5-1 loss to the Marlins.

    1) Super Bowl champ Eagles released starting LB Michael Kendricks Tuesday; he had been with the club the last six seasons.

NHL Eastern Confernce Finals Game 7 betting preview and odds: Capitals at Lightning

Washington Capitals at Tampa Bay Lightning (-145, 5.5)

    Series tied 3-3.

The Washington Capitals look to put past playoff failures in the rear-view mirror when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night for a deciding Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. The Capitals, who sit one win away from their first trip to the Stanley Cup finals since 1998 after a 3-0 victory Monday, have a 4-11 record overall and a 1-3 mark on the road all-time in Game 7s while the Lightning are 5-2 (3-0 at home) in deciding contests.

“I don’t think there’s (another) team I’ve ever had that I’d want to go into Game 7 with,” Washington’s Barry Trotz, who has coached 107 playoff contests in his career and 1,524 in the regular season, told reporters. “This team has done a lot of special things this year. It’s grown. It continues to do that. What an opportunity. … We’ll see if we can earn the right to keep playing.” While Washington’s superstar Alex Ovechkin looks to take his team to the Cup finals for the first time in his tenure, fellow captain Steven Stamkos of Tampa Bay (four goals in the series) hopes to make it for the second time in four seasons with Vegas awaiting the winner for Game 1 on Monday. The Lightning will have raise their level of play after being outshot by an average of more that 10 per game in the series and take pressure off goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has turned aside 131 of 139 attempts while winning three of the last four contests. “We wish we would have wrapped it up (Monday),” Tampa Bay right wing Ryan Callahan told reporters. “At the end of the day, Game 7s are fun. INJURY REPORT:

Capitals - No injuries to report.

Lightning - LW Adam Erne (Questionable, Lower Body).

ABOUT THE CAPITALS (28-17-4-1, 28-20 O/U): Washington outhit the Lightning 39-19, many of those leading to its 17 takeaways in Game 6, and defenseman Brooks Orpik told reporters: “You try to empty the tank as much as you can. That’s probably one area where we have an edge is the size and physical play.” Right wing T.J. Oshie scored two of the three goals Monday and has seven points in the series while Nicklas Backstrom set up a pair of tallies for his first points in three games since returning from a hand injury. Center Evgeny Kuznetsov had an assist Monday to extend his point streak to nine games and has 23 overall - a franchise playoff record.

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (35-13-2-0, 29-19 O/U): Tampa Bay has been outshot 209-145 in the series, managing only 24 in Game 6, and have not scored a goal since 33 seconds into the second period of Game 5 on Saturday night. “We’ve got to execute, that’s part of it,” coach Jon Cooper told reporters. “People say executing is passing the puck and putting it on the tape. Executing is getting pucks on net, putting them where you can get it back. We just haven’t been near aggressive enough at that.” Right wing Nikita Kucherov, who leads the team with 17 points in the playoffs, and Stamkos each managed one shot on net in Game 6 while combining for a minus-3 rating.

Game 7 - Capitals at Lightning
    May 22, 2018

The Lightning are looking for their first Stanley Cup appearance since 2015 as they return home to battle the Capitals for Game 7 on Wednesday.

The Capitals stayed alive by shutting out Tampa Bay in Game 6 at home, 3-0 after losing their first two home games in this series to the Lightning.

Tampa Bay last played in a Game 7 in 2016 as the Lightning dropped a 2-1 road decision to the Penguins. The last time the Lightning hosted a Game 7 in the playoffs came in the 2015 playoffs as Tampa Bay blanked Detroit, 2-0 to advance past the opening round.

Washington fell short to Pittsburgh in Game 7 of the conference semifinals, 2-0, while seeking its first Game 7 victory since beating the Islanders in the opening round in 2015.

The Lightning opened as -145 favorites in Game 7, while the Capitals sit at +125 at most sports books. The total is listed at 5.5, but shaded to the 'under' at -115.

Road teams have gone 36-41 in this year’s NHL playoffs, while owning a 5-6 mark in the conference finals.

There have been 169 all-time Game 7’s in the NHL Playoffs and the home squad owns a 98-71 (58.0%) record.

    Recent Game 7 History

    Washington
2017 Conference Semifinals - Lost to Penguins at home, 2-0
2015 Conference Semifinals - Lost to Rangers on road, 2-1

    Tampa Bay
2016 Conference Finals - Lost to Penguins on road, 2-1
2015 Conference Finals - Beat Rangers on road, 2-0

The winning team in eight of the last 14 Game 7's scored just two goals, as eight of those games finished under the total.

Preview: Capitals (49-26) at Lightning (54-23)
    Date: May 23, 2018 8:00 PM EDT

TAMPA, Fla. -- The up-and-down, roller-coaster ride of the Eastern Conference finals comes to its final crescendo on Wednesday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Washington Capitals at Amalie Arena in Game 7 with the winner advancing to face the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final, which starts on Monday.

A Lightning victory sees the Cup Final start in Tampa while a Washington win means Vegas will host the first game.

But the way in which the series between Tampa Bay and the Capitals has played out to date, determining the outcome of Game 7 might prove to be a futile effort.

"Lots of people say we're going to lose to Columbus," Washington captain Alex Ovechkin said. "Lots of people say we're going to lose to Pittsburgh. Lots of people said we're going to lose to Tampa. Tomorrow is the biggest probably game in my life."

It's been that sort of a playoff season for the Capitals, who fell behind 0-2 to Columbus in the opening round, finally defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round and jumped on top of Tampa Bay 2-0 to start the conference finals. But the Lightning won the next three games before Washington won Game 6 on home ice to force the decisive game.

"I don't think anybody thought we're going to be fighting against (the) Tampa Bay Lightning for the Stanley Cup final in Game 7," Ovechkin said. "I don't think you guys (reporters) felt like you were going to be here. Probably thought you're going to be on vacation somewhere."

Whichever team does fall short on Wednesday will be starting their vacation one stop short of playing for the ultimate prize.

For Tampa Bay, this is familiar territory.

For the third time in the past four years, the Lightning will play Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, and the script has pretty much played out the same way.

In 2015, Tampa Bay had a 3-2 series lead against the New York Rangers but fell in Game 6. In 2016, the Lightning were up 3-2 in the series to Pittsburgh but failed to close out the series in six games.

Against the Rangers, the Lightning won Game 7. Against the Penguins, Tampa Bay lost the decisive game.

But both of those Game 7s took place on the road. This time around, home-ice advantage belongs to the Lightning as they seek a third trip to the Stanley Cup Final in franchise history.

"I do like the fact that there will be 19,000 people helping us, willing us to victory," Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said. "I want our guys to enjoy the game. It's a phenomenal experience. This will be my third one in four years. You just have to remember, don't let the game become really much bigger than it is. Go out, execute, leave everything out there, see what happens."

That's where some experience can come in to play.

For many of the Lightning players, they have been in this situation before as the core of Tampa Bay has been pretty much intact for the past four years. Many have been through the experience, this deep in to the playoffs, together.

"I think Game 7 is something that everybody looks forward to, at least I do. I take pleasure in playing a Game 7. I think it's one of the most exciting moments in sports," said Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman, who has a 7-1 career record playing in Game 7. "I think you just have to embrace it, really just have fun with it. I think what it's all about. Usually if you have an open mindset, follow the game plan you set up, you are going to enjoy it. You will most of the time also have a good result."

Ovechkin, Caps heading to Stanley Cup
    May 23, 2018

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Alex Ovechkin lifted the Prince of Wales Trophy, spun around and set it back down on a table.

The rest of the Capitals joined him for a team photo after beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0 on Wednesday night in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final, a victory that sent Washington to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 20 years.

A decade of playoff frustration is fading fast.

''I think Ovie has been on a mission,'' Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. ''They wanted this game, no question.''

Ovechkin scored early and Andre Burakovsky added two second-period goals as the Caps continued to shed a label as postseason underachievers.

Braden Holtby stopped 29 shots for his second straight shutout and the Lightning, who led the NHL in goals during the regular season, failed to score in the last 159 minutes, 27 seconds of the series - a stretch of nearly eight periods.

Ovechkin, who had never advanced beyond the second round, scored 1:02 into the winner-take-all showdown he had described as probably the ''biggest game in my life.''

''The first goal was very important,'' Ovechkin said. ''After that you could see we have all the momentum on our side. Holts was unstoppable today. He was special. Everybody was all in. Everybody was sacrificing their bodies. I think we all deserve the win.''

To earn a spot in the Stanley Cup Final, where they'll play the Vegas Golden Knights, the Capitals beat the top-seeded Lightning three times on the road, improving to 8-2 away from home this postseason.

It's Washington's first Cup Final appearance since 1998, and the first during Ovechkin's 13-year career.

''We played a great game,'' defenseman John Carlson said. ''We deserved to win this.''

Two games after being a healthy scratch for Game 5, Burakovsky became the 17th player to score a goal for Washington in the playoffs this year - four shy of the NHL record - when he beat Andrei Vasilevskiy on a breakaway at 8:59 of the second period.

The winger, who played two games in the first round against Columbus before sitting out 10 straight with an upper-body injury, added a breakaway goal to make it 3-0 heading into the last period.

Nicklas Backstrom had an empty-netter to complete the rout.

''What a game. What an experience. We had a lot of guys pitching in,'' winger T.J. Oshie said. ''The biggest guy of all had to be Holts. He played fantastic, back to back shutouts.''

Tampa Bay, which rebounded from losing the first two games at home to win three straight for a 3-2 series lead, had plenty of chances. A couple of shots clanged off the post, Yanni Gourde was unable to get his stick on a loose puck in front on an empty net and the game gradually slipped away.

Washington was the more physical team in evening the series with a bruising 3-0 victory in Game 6. They played with urgency from the start again Wednesday night and never let up.

Tampa Bay's last goal in the series came 33 seconds into the second period of Game 5, which the Lightning went on to win 3-2.

''We're here to win as team, no matter who gets the credit,'' said Holtby, the fifth goalie to deliver a Game 7 shutout to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Final.

''I felt we could have won every game,'' Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. ''We ran into a tough Washington team that was probably feeling the same thing, and once you get this far you've probably done some magical things on the way.''

It was the 33rd time in league history that a Game 7 was required to determine a Stanley Cup finalist. Home teams are 21-12 in those games.

Tampa Bay also played Game 7 in the Eastern Conference final in 2015, when they blanked the New York Rangers, and again two years ago, when they lost 2-1 to Pittsburgh.

Both of those deciding games were on the road. The Lightning had never lost a Game 7 at home before Wednesday night.

''It's going to take a few days to ****** this. It's tough to sit here right now and think of positive things and how it was a pretty great season,'' Lightning captain Steven Stamkos said. ''It doesn't seem that way when you have this group - and we've been to this position before - and you can't find a way to give yourself a chance a win. We thought we had that group. It's just an empty feeling right now.''

Notes: Ovechkin and Backstrom made their 11th career Game 7 appearance, one shy of Boston's Zdeno Chara for the most among active NHL players. In addition to Chara, only five other players in NHL history have appeared in more Game 7s: Patrick Roy (13), Scott Stevens (13), Glenn Anderson (12), Ken Daneyko (12) and Stephane Yelle (12). ... Evgeny Kuznetsov's assist on Ovechkin's early goal extended his points streak to 10 games. ... Vasilevskiy made 19 saves. The Lightning outshot the Capitals (29-23) for the first time in the series.
