View Full Version : Boston – N.Y … Game 1

Game 1 here in sunny New York represents an opportunity for me … one I can not pass up . I feel I have the right team at the right price with a more than right pitching matchup.

Curt Schilling is a proven winner – fiery and burning to succeed. He’s also very intelligent. His mound opponent does not have any of these assets. This is a pitching mismatch of enormous proportions.

My best friend, our linesmaker , seems to have the Yankees number when playing at home. They simply do not do well when installed as home underdogs.

My largest baseball wagers have always been ON Curt Schilling and he has never let me down. Two years ago I made a similar move on him at Fenway at +120 vs. Pedro in an inter league contest. Arizona won …. albeit in extra innings.

I've also made some decent sized wagers going AGAINST Mussina in the past and he too has never disappointed me.

I believe Boston will be primed to take game 1 whereas the Yankees will not feel as “urgent”. New York will save that urgency for the latter games of the series.

Schilling vs. Mussina in Game 4 at Fenway would be much less attractive. Mussina will get his lunch handed to him but N.Y. may very well win. The Sox will be –200 and by then the Yankees will have figured out yet another way to scam Boston. They always do. THIS is the game where I must take a stand and move on it …. Right here and right now.

Both the NY Daily News and The Post have pull out sections on the game tonight. I choose to ignore their content. I don’t want anyone to distract me from what I NEED to do . No Mike and The Mad Dog … No ESPN TV or Radio … No opinions from friends ( which I normally value )

This game is all on me and, right or wrong, win or lose, I can live with the result. Either way , I’ll just sit back after tonight’s game and enjoy how the rest of this soap opera plays out.

Last night I stepped up to the window with briefcase in hand and bought The Redsox at –130 … making darn sure to specify the pitchers.

Enjoy the game and the series,

-cb

Believe it or not-Sox at WWTS are favored to win the WS at +130.
Since I have them at 6 1/2 to 1 to win it all (made at beginning of season), I am just going to sit back and relax/pray.
Go Sox and end the curse once and for all!!!

Ray Mancini once said in an interview before the Livingstone Bramble fight : " I'm having a Weight problem ... I can't Wait until I get my hands on him " LOL

I can't wait til the game starts .

( Come to think of it ... Ray lost that fight .... hmmmmmm )

Nahhhhhh ..... I'm confident .... queezy ... but confident.

I think all the stars are in alignment here.

If memory serves me correctly Bramble beat the shit out of Mancini in that fight knocking him out.

Just what I need right now ... a good shot of confidence.

A better analogy might be the Holmes/Ali fight. Ali representing the past history (Yanks). Holmes representing the new star that got no respect (Red Sox).

As we all know. Holmes destroyed Ali. Begging the refs to stop the fight because he didn't want to hurt the people champ.

Think of this, SHOCK and AWE
Yanks win the first one to get people off of the BoSox, the BoSox continue to kick the living shit out of the Yanks in the next 4

Never

I'd never jeopardize my wealth over something I can not control.

Besides, these athletes are strangers to me ... they're merely uniform numbers and statistics only and I'll never allow them to become anything more than just that.

And I won't bore you by going any further.

Good luck.

I can now take a position on the Yankees +140 and possibly pick up a nice piece of change ( 10% ) risk free .

However I'm standing pat.

Red Sox look real good. Can you say OVER. Isn't it great to be a New York fan. It must suck to be a Boston or a Philly fan, in the end they WILL ALWAYS CHOKE.

It's only 1 game but obviously foolish to lay wood with an injured pitcher at Yankee Stadium of all place. They sure kept the injury quiet but Schilling was throwng 8-10 MPH slower.

Sorry about the loss. I thought you were on the right side. Even with Schilling hurt, you still have one of the best post season pictures going. This game was the game Boston went out and got Schilling for.

Agree with WIZ, NY may have won game 1 but thought Boston got the upper hand in the fight with that huge comeback. Rest of NY's pitching staff sucks at best, and NY bats are inconsistent. BTW I can't stand the Red Sox before all you Yankee lovers start ripping into me.

My play is on Pedro for game 2!!

Thanks Statsman .... I took a stand and lost a wager ... looking back at my origional post I realize that I was emotional . I broke MY CARDINAL RULE . I'm not supposed to have any feelings with this stuff. For someone who doesn't get involved liking or disliking teams and players I sure didn't show it.

I analyzed that game like some schoolboy - adoring Schilling and bad mouthing Mussina ... that must NEVER happen when handicapping.

Boston was the wrong side. Boston lost. The right side is the side that wins money for a bettor. It's that simple.

Funny how some of us can make good money on a particular sport ... say college basketball ... and not know the name of a single player. I don't know one. I don't want to , either. But last night it seemed like these guys knew me and I knew them .

The loss is a shot in the arm for me and will earn me money in the future. It serves as a helpful reminder - NEVER GET INVOLVED ... 99% of the time I don't. Athletes mean nothing to me and I mean nothing to them. ( LOL )

It's all about power ratings... cold and hard. The rest is meaningless gossip.

Thanks again Stats and great luck tonight.

Hey You .... Obviously Foolish .....

You stroll in here at 10:17 with the score 7-0 trying to insult me? You fucking little Coward. Where were you at 7:30 ? ... you and that other snotnose ... " TODD " LOL .

Tell you what, Rookies ... I lost the bet but you lost a helluva lot more. Do you both realize how bad both of you look today? You have any idea ?

I may bump this thread a few times today just to let my friends see how ridiculous both of you are ... maybe The Administrators will catch this too. Then we'll see how smart you really are.

For me, you two 5th inning know it alls are just 2 more pieces of dead wood to ignore.

You both better STFU with your snide remarks ... you just might have tried to pick on the wrong guy at the wrong Fucking time.

If capping was that easy. It's real easy capping the game 2 hours after it started.

There always those ASSHOLES that will come into your thread and tell you how obvious the other side was. All they are is LURKERS and they probably followed some of the best cappers in here and may have lost 1.

Cap your own games........THEN POST THEM.....and leave yourself out there for ridicule and smart ass comments like you give other people.

Thanks guys - No one likes to be made fun of when they are losing. In our thing this kinda stuff is unheard of.

Amazing the lack of manners, common courtesy and upbringing... Unreal.

Neil, it is amazing to me that it is always the clowns with less than 100 posts .... To bash you, YOU, of all people ... the one that posts his plays here everyday ....every friggin day... We should make you the MAYOR OF BETTORSCHAT .... These leeches just sit back and take take take .... I have seen both of these guys in the service threads and I will make sure I put the word out that we take good care of them .....

CB, I agree that these guys should be banned because this forum should not tolerate any type of bashing... I am sure Bettors will not be very happy when he sees this... i remember another clown by the handle of POWER 6 or something like this.. he bashed one time and all it took was an e-,mail from the Kapt to Bettors and he was gone... That is what you call Moderating a forum... What do you say Bettors??....

Please stay focused and positive Neil and do not allow these guys to get under your skin... They are not worth it... They are leeches...

Guys pls bump this now and then so Bettors can look at this thread... he will not be too happy about it either... Thanks

They certainly would have felt like bigger asshole had Boston completed the comeback.

When Boston cut the lead to 8-7 and was inches from tying the game I can almost picture kleipman tripping over himself racing to the computer to edit his post. LOL

RJ, it's the same lurkers that offer no contributions to this site on weekends. That do nothing but request service picks.

Ths same lurkers who create new threads requesting service picks that have already been post but they are too fucking lazy to look for them.

The same lurkers that drag this site down to a crawl on weekends.

What's with all the anger. I was happy to see the hated red sox getting there misfit asses kicked. I wasn't busting your balls about your play. Who's insulting your plays. I don't play your plays. Calm down. Spark i was surprized at your post. I DON'T BAD MOUTH ANYBODY. If i came into your thread and stepped on your toes then i apologize. SPARK there is one thing i don't understand. Does it matter if I POSTED 30 times or 3400 times. I look forward to getting on this website everyday and read every post every day. Just because you don't post threads doesn't mean you don't belong here. YOU WERE A ROOKIE ONCE.

Todd, before I ever say anything negative to someone that I really do not know I always look at their profile and look at their past posts... I want you to do that to yours .... I see a lot of negative comments ... No, I have never had a problem with you but I feel your post to my partner here CB was meant to pour vinegar in that wound and I will not listen to that....

I remember you asking how to bet bases... You received some good responses ... That is what this forum is all about ....

No, you never stepped on my toes but your post here to CB was not necessary ... You offered to apologize to me ....you showed good character .... but I do feel you owe my guy CoverBoy one.....

Yes, I was a rookie once but i want you to go back and look at my past post .... I always try to stay positive and focused ... I never have a negative thing to say to anyone unless they say something negative first ....

Let's move on now and use this forum for the reason it is here...
but I do want to thank you for responding to my post ... It shows you were bothered by it... good luck as always...

You've laid it out pretty clear to this rookie as to what's expected of him and what is NOT expected.

We'll wait and see if he gets it or not. I don't think he does.

He's full of shit about not bad mouthing anyones plays ... otherwise he wouldn't have posted it in MY THREAD . Yup, Spark old buddy - it was a barb aimed directly at ME but he didn't know he was fucking with the wrong guy. Hopefully now he does.

" Todd "

We have quite a great bunch of guys ( and ladies ) here. A lot of people here are bonded together with a common goal.

No one comes into our thing and insults one of us and stays around much longer afterward.

That's the rule, Pal .... you don't like that rule ?? Then COP A FUCKING WALK.

I agree! I do the same. IMO the number of posts does have some meaning. To me it means a member is making contributions to this site. If all members simply lurked and didn't post, well, there wouldn't be a forum of discussion.

I had a 'run-in' with Todd a few weeks ago. He posted a message to BC demanding a response regarding the status of the server on weekends. Much of what he posts is negative.

Todd, in the future create a new thread if you want to trash a team. Don't go into someone's thread knocking that team and the members selection on that team.

As an example, last weekend I noted many members were on Dallas over the NY Giants. I created my thread with solid reasoning why I was going with the Giants and against the selection of other members. I'm not insulting anyone. I was stating my opinion on a game.

You claim you've lurked since Jan 2004 but haven't made many posts. Clearly, you haven't learned much by lurking. You challenged me to post my own selections, which I do, because I posted a negative comment about Northcoast. Another example you don't know what's going on around here. Otherwise, you'll know I ALWAYS trash services.

You and I know all too well that the term "sports services" is a misnomer.

99% of them "service" themselves and the casinos and BM's they are in cahoots with. Where's the Service ? Surprise Surprise ... There is none.

And that leaves most unsophisticated bettors hung out to dry.

" Services " have a perfect scam going on and they'll continue to prosper as long as there are insecure bettors dreaming of a score .

Also let's never forget that half of people out there wagering are deep down inside looking to lose.

Frank with your permission I'd like to change the subject and say something now ...

Many are going to come down on me for what I'm about to say but here goes ( Just remember ... most of you are my friends and our friendship means something to me )

To have any shot at all being successful in the war of wagering you must have more than ample resources .... Our home or homes should be paid for .... the funding of our children' s education must be safe and in tact ... ( keeping in mind that they have the right to go ALL THE WAY in pursuing their education ) and this can entail hundreds of thousands of dollars in many instances.... We need an understanding wife or girlfriend in our corner.... sneaking around to make bets is a disgrace and , as men , should be beneath us .... Medical bills .. Dental bills ... Everyone bound to us by blood need be safe and sound ( we should help family first rather than paying tuition for the idiot son of a Lard Ass Bookie Stranger)

Then having met all these requirements first ... we need "Fuck You" Money and lots of it.

Is what we choose to do " a rich man's sport " ? You bet it is ....

Establishing ourselves first and foremost ... making sure all is well on the homefront ... then ... if we choose .... we all will have a good shot at success in wagering.

Scared money can NEVER win.

One last thing and I swear I'll quit boring the hell out of all my Pals ... LOL

Yeah - "Kleinman" and "Todd" posted some cowardly shit ... but that never bothers me. Strangers can never get to me in any way.... It was the post from Wizard saying that he hopes I didn't BET IT ALL on the Red Sox that was disturbing . I know he didn't mean it to be malicious and I feel he was trying to be the voice of reason for me but he clearly does not know who or what I am. If he did he would know that all my wealth is in tact and I meet every single attribute listed above. It took me 30 years of dedication and hard work to do so but I've reached every single goal that I've always dreamed of as a little boy way back when the world was young. . All that I've amassed belongs to my family, my closest friends and the community in which we live comfortably and happily. The very idea of " Risk" for me and what's mine ... does not exist. I've never lost sight of the responsibilities which come with the accumulation of wealth .

Friends - I wish all of you nothing but success .... please make sure all the most important things in your life are in harmony . Then if you still feel the need ... go out and kick some bookies' ass black and blue ... in a position of strength and with no monetary worries.

Your friend,
Neil
